Much of Sidmouth’s charm lies in its Regency history and along with the natural beauty of the surrounding countryside and the dramatic Jurassic Coast, all things that need to be maintained and supported so that generations to come can continue to enjoy Sidmouth.
The Sidmouth Trust is a fundraising charity that aims to preserve Sidmouth’s past and to protect its future by supporting the development and delivery of innovative projects to improve the town and the wider Sid Valley for those that both live, work and visit the town.
The Sidmouth Trust is made up of like-minded individuals all committed to driving projects forward, working with groups and individuals from around the Sid Valley to help fund community projects of all sizes and types. Principally these include leisure, sport, tourism, culture, planning, transport, education and health.
2020 has shown us that our beautiful Town and Valley needs to be increasingly forward thinking and more generous than ever before. Public money will be far harder to come by. Public funding, direct from the public rather than through the public “purse” can help fill the gap.
Sidmouth has a long legacy of generosity from individuals such as Keith Owen, Colonel Balfour and Annie Leigh-Brown. Much of the Town has developed over the years through generous philanthropic giving. These generous donations are what helps make Sidmouth such a charming and beautiful place to live.
The Sidmouth Trust invites donations from all over to support initiatives to help Sidmouth continue to thrive. Projects include helping to enrich the River Sid, transforming the seafront, extending open spaces, creating more cycle routes and keeping everyone healthy and happy. The Trust will work with local schools to support students as well as with other organisations to help visitors and residents get the most out of their time in Sidmouth.
Sidmouth can be a Town that is supported wherever possible by its alumni.
