About

Sidmouth Gin is Sidmouth’s locally sourced, award winning gin created in a distillery right in the heart of the town.

Our small family run distillery began in 2017 with the hope of making small hand crafted gins using botanicals sourced fresh from the beach and the surrounding Sid Valley area. Our first gin, Seashore, won a Silver Award from Taste of the West and contained sugar kelp which was hand harvested from Sidmouth beach under a licence from the Crown Estate and consent from Natural England.

Since then, our gin varieties have won awards and are a perfect way of capturing the true taste of Sidmouth. We now have a wide variety of gin flavours, still created using our original methods, distilled in our 100 litre pot still and botanicals from around the Sid Valley. In 2019, our Sea Truffle gin received a Gold Award at the Food and Drink Devon Awards and the team are now branching out to include rum and vodka to their range.

At Sidmouth Gin, we do more than create incredible tasting gins – we like to involve you in the process too with our gin school! The Sidmouth Gin School gives visitors the chance to learn more about how to distil the perfect gin, as well as create their own bespoke gin flavours using a range of locally sourced botanicals as well as their own botanicals brought from home. Visitors can even bring their own images to make their own custom label for their gin creations which they can then take home with them.

Find out more about our Gin School sessions on our website, or pop into The Dairy Shop in Sidmouth high street to talk to a member of the team and book your session. The Gin School is the perfect activity for Valentine’s, birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions, so if you have a gin lover in your life, book a place on our next session today!

If you prefer to drink gin than make it yourself, you’re in luck, Sidmouth Gin’s online shop and their base at The Dairy Shop are both well stocked with all the various flavour combinations as well as locally produced rum and vodka. The Seabreeze Vodka, which is distilled from three local botanicals and creates a light and crisp drink with hints of citrus and salt undertones, won Gold in 2020. This alongside the award winning Sidmouth Port Royal Rum, which harks back to the town’s past of pirates and smugglers, is a perfect blend of dark spiced rum with a mix of local seaweeds. Pop into the shop for gin tastings, gift sets and goodies including bespoke packages and hampers complete with our local gin combinations – speak to us to discuss your needs.

Current gin flavours include Sidmouth Honey and Orange, Sidmouth Pink Gooseberry, Sidmouth Rhubarb, Sidmouth Sea Truffle and Sidmouth Seashore. All of which are created using locally sourced ingredients. The Honey and Orange gin for instance, uses local honey alongside orange and lavender from our own family garden.

At Sidmouth Gin, we love discovering and experimenting with new botanicals to make our gins and bring you a real taste of our town. We are constantly working on new flavours and products, so make sure to pop into the shop and pick up a bottle or two!
