'A town caught still in a timeless charm'Sidmouth Anchor

Poet Laureate, John Betjeman, chose those words to describe Sidmouth after being captivated by its beautiful gardensleisurely walks, clean beaches and Regency history. This lovely seaside town is nestled beneath majestic red cliffs, which, along with the green hills of the Sid Valley, will captivate you too.

Sidmouth really is a town like no other, located in East Devon and full of friendly faces and beautiful scenery, it is no wonder that Sidmouth is a firm favourite among families and tourists looking for a seaside resort. The dramatic cliffs, fresh sea air and the abundance of attractions makes it a wonderful place to recharge the batteries. It’s the kind of town where you can do everything or nothing at all, you can make a splash by taking on some watersports, savour a cream tea or two at one of the town’s many hotels and cafes, spend some time exploring the South West Coast Path or discover a new passion at one Sidmouth’s regular festivals.

The resort with royal approval Sidmouth Sea Sun

Sidmouth has been a favourite among families looking for a beach holiday since Queen Victoria was a child. She, like many of us, spent several of her childhood holidays enjoying the sun and sand at this charming location in East Devon. This is just one of the town’s many royal connections. Queen Victoria’s love affair with Sidmouth continued throughout her life and reign and the beautiful Connaught Gardens are named for her son, the Duke of Connaught.

The Connaught Gardens are one of the town’s highlights, along with the seafront, Jacob’s Ladder and the regular events and festivals that take place all year around. These along with Sidmouth’s location, the grand Regency style hotelsstylish eateries and bustling town centre is why it is such a popular destination.
