Takeaways

With the huge array of local produce, it’s no wonder that the food and drink producers and retailers in Sidmouth, are so proud of their menus. Aside from the cafes and restaurants offering extensive menus of locally sourced dishes, there are also a host of takeaways and street food stalls offering some of the best dishes made entirely from produce reared, grown and fished in the East Devon region.

Traditional fish and chips

If you go to the beach and don’t have fish and chips, did you really go to the beach? Luckily, Sidmouth has retained much of its traditional coastal resort charm and that includes plenty of opportunities to grab fish and chips, whether that’s from a pop up counter, from a dedicated fish and chip shop or from a restaurant with take away menus, there are plenty of choices for you. So, make sure you grab a portion during your trip!

Enjoy local food at home

If you’re staying in one of the self-catering properties in the town or you’re camping, staying at a holiday park or booking into a B&B, one of the town’s takeaways is a great option for dinner. Especially if you’re planning to stay out of the kitchen for duration of your holiday or the weather scuppers your plans for a BBQ. These are great choices for anyone who wants to give cooking a rest and indulge in the amazing local treats that are on offer and has become increasingly popular with those wanting a foodie break. There are several reasons why choosing take aways are a good option, other than the lack of washing up, you can have a whole host of dishes, so everyone is happy, plus, you don’t have to slave away following recipes for your whole holiday, just enjoy your day and then order in or collect when you’re ready!

Grabbing a take away is an easy way to keep the family fed and with the huge array of menus and world cuisine on offer, you’ll be able to easily please everyone in your group. You don’t even need to travel too far to find great take aways in Sidmouth, especially if you’re staying at a holiday park or on a camping or caravanning site, many of these sites have their own takeaways right on your doorstep.

Grab a bite on the go

Street food is a big deal no matter where you are in Devon. Whether you’re at a weekly farmers’ market sampling the very best in local produce or you’re being tempted by the aroma from the stalls at one of the annual festival or events, you’re never too far from something tasty. You have to grab something – it enhances the whole experience of the event!

One of the best things about street food is that it gives you the chance to sample food from around the world, without having to get on a plane. Whatever you’re in the mood for, you can easily find it, plus you know it sustainably sourced and created using home grown ingredients.
Make sure to look out for the weekly street food markets and pop ups when you’re visiting Sidmouth, you can find out when the next markets and events are taking place on our What’s On pages.
