Sidmouth’s Regency charm means that dining out, whether that’s to grab a bite to eat during a day trip, a meal as part of your holiday or a special occasion is a real pleasure. Being on the coast, you’ll find plenty of fresh fish and shellfish on menus throughout the town, with everything from traditional fish and chips to a la carte dishes available. Plus, being located along the Jurassic Coast and the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, you can guarantee that you’ll have a beautiful backdrop to your meal, no matter what time of day you’re stopping for food.

Not just seafood

While Sidmouth is famous for its fresh fish and shellfish like the rest of Devon, it isn’t just about seafood. There are a whole host of incredible restaurants and cafes offering extensive, seasonal menus full of tantalising dishes.

Sidmouth’s restaurants and cafes bring the world’s cuisine to this beautiful town in East Devon. You’ll find menus focused on certain cuisines including Indian, Thai, Chinese, French and just about everywhere else you can think of, as well as menus that are more varied featuring a little bit of everything, perfect for those of you can’t quite decide what you want.

Because Sidmouth is such a popular destination for families, there are loads of family friendly restaurants who have dedicated children’s menus and more casual atmospheres so you can feel comfortable allowing the kids to play and enjoy themselves during your meal. If that’s not what you’re looking for, you’ll find plenty of other establishments to choose from – casual restaurants, budget restaurants, award-winning restaurants, fine dining restaurants and just about everything in between. Whether you’re looking for somewhere to host a special occasion like a birthday or family get together, or just somewhere to stop off and fill your bellies you’ll find it here in Sidmouth.

When it comes to dining in Sidmouth, you’ll get several chances to sample the incredible locally produced, sustainably resourced menus with restaurants offering breakfast, lunch and evening meals. These often differ with light bites earlier in the day and fuller heartier meals in the evenings, so whatever time you find yourself in town, you can guarantee that there will be a top quality restaurant with brilliant seasonal menus giving you your favourite meal at all times of day.

Devon traditional delicacies

When you think of Devon, the first treat that comes to mind is the Devonshire Cream Tea and where better to enjoy one than somewhere with regency charm? Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for anywhere advertising cream teas – you can find them on most restaurant’s lunchtime menus.

The cream teas you can get in Sidmouth feature fresh, locally made cream, home made scones that were baked that day, jam created in the restaurant’s kitchens from fruit grown themselves and tasty sandwiches as well as a pot of refreshing tea.

Whether you want a traditional cream tea or a more modern take on an old classic, you can find a host of varieties in Sidmouth from cream tea with champagne or prosecco to gluten free and even vegan versions!

Whatever kind of cream tea you want, they are the perfect way to follow up a bracing walk around the South West Coast Path or to follow a day out at one of the Sid Valley’s attractions.

Catering for all moods and tastes

Whatever you’re in the mood for when looking for your evening or lunch time meal and whatever kind of atmosphere you seek, you’ll find somewhere that suits your taste and budget in Sidmouth. From fine dining to chain restaurants to themed nights, Sidmouth has it all.
