If you’re looking for an award winning restaurant in the height of Sidmouth, look no further than…
We all know that Devon’s delicious cream teas are famous world wide and you can find some of the very best cream teas in the county in Sidmouth. Not only do you get to experience the utter joy of indulging in a cream tea, but you get to enjoy it while surrounded by incredible scenery. Whether you choose a café or tearoom on the sea front with the iconic red cliffs and coastline as a backdrop or one in the town’s parks or gardens, you can be sure of beautiful views to compliment your cream tea.
If you’re in the mood for a refreshing tea or comforting coffee, you’ll find a wide range of tearooms and cafes serving snacks, drinks and everything from a quick cuppa to a full on Afternoon Tea. Afternoon Tea might be something for a special occasion, like Mother’s Day or a birthday, but with the huge array of afternoon tea varieties on offer, they can be as indulgent or simple as you like – there are even vegan and gluten free versions available!
Cream tea isn’t the only thing you can find on the menus of Sidmouth’s cafes and tearooms. They are a real hive of delicious, locally sourced and often home made food with everything from sandwiches to full English breakfasts and even seaside staples like fish and chips on offer. So, whether you’re a little peckish or ravenous, you’re never too far from somewhere cosy where you can relax and fill up on tasty local food.
The vast majority of cafes and tea rooms in the region open their doors early in the morning and keep them open until later into the evening. Some of them are even open late at night, so you can pop in for a full English at breakfast, a quick sandwich at lunch, a bowl of chips in the evening and a much needed cup of tea later on. They are perfect for those of you keen to explore who let time run away with them – trust us, it’s easy to do in this beautiful part of the world! So, whatever time of day you fancy some refreshments, you will find somewhere open and welcoming and a comforting array of food to choose from.
For those of you out and about with your dogs, there are even cafes that cater for them too! You’ll find doggy ice cream, dog biscuits and even complimentary bowls of water, after all, it isn’t just you who needs a drink after a long walk exploring the paths and trails of the Sid Valley.
When it comes to cafes, Sidmouth has a wide range to choose from. There are the high street favourites, with familiar menus and loyalty card schemes and lots of cosy, independently run establishments with friendly atmospheres that act as a hub for the community with live music, activities and more. Plus, these cafes and tearooms are likely to have menus created with produce grown by the owners in their own gardens guaranteeing you the freshest soups, sandwiches and smoothies you can think of.
Whether you’re visiting Sidmouth for the day or you’re in town for a while, to stop by at least one of the many cafes that can be found in the shopping areas, along the sea front and further into the Sid Valley – the home made cakes are second to none and who doesn’t love tea served in a mug that looks more like a dessert bowl?
