OSKC Watersports is located on the edge of Exmoor in Combe Martin, North Devon and is the premier kayak and stand up paddle board hire, sales and watersports centre in North Devon. It is ideally located just 50 metres from Combe Martin beach, within easy reach of Ilfracombe, Woolacombe, Croyde, Braunton, Barnstaple, Lynton and Lynmouth. We are a fourth generation family run business that offer various watersports activities including sea kayaking, kayak hire and lessons, stand up paddle boarding, stand up paddle board lessons and SUP hire. Our sea kayak guided tours and safaris are also very popular. We also offer our own version of coasteering and can cater for all group sizes and abilities including schools, stag / hen parties and corporate events.
Combe Martin is arguably one of the best and safest areas for kayaking and stand up paddle boarding in the UK. Located on the edge of Exmoor in the heart of North Devon and boasting the highest sea cliffs in main land Britain. There are around 3km of coastline to safely explore with many private beaches, caves and coves only accessible from the sea. The area is rich in wildlife with seals, porpoise, dolphins, fulmars and peregrine falcons often spotted. For novice kayakers or those that are not quite so confident we offer kayak guided trips which will take you on a tour of the coastline and visit many of our hidden gems. Our kayak guides are all local and the most experienced and qualified in Combe Martin. For the surfers out there, when the surf is flat or you are looking for a day off then pop over to the OSKC for a relaxing paddle around our stunning bay!
Sea kayaking and stand up paddle boarding is quickly becoming very popular and one of the “must things to do” when on holiday or visiting North Devon. Our activity centre is ideally located just metres from Combe Martin beach with public parking right next door. We have large changing facilities along with shower and toilet facilities on site so no need for changing in carparks or travelling back soaking wet! We use sit on top type kayaks which are very stable and easy to use. We have various sizes in both single and double kayaks which are suitable for the smallest to the larger paddlers. We also have a range of sizes in our stand up paddle boards and can almost guarantee we will get you up and away on your first go!
We believe our experience and expertise is second to none, we have British Canoeing (the UK’s governing authority on paddle sports) trained staff all the way through to coach level. We are by far the most experienced and qualified company operating out of Combe Martin and the only company that is AALA licensed (a legal requirement if taking under 18’s on accompanied trips). Owner and head instructor has alone more than 30 years of maritime experience in both a professional and personal capacity. He is a qualified instructor, sea kayak leader and was the areas manger and trainer for HM Coastguard for nearly 10 years. You really couldn’t be in safer or better hands when kayaking or stand up paddle boarding in North Devon!!
One of the many things on offer are lessons in kayaking and stand up paddle boarding, we are the only company operating from Combe Martin that have qualified instructors and we have the best and latest equipment for learning on. We offer lessons in both sit on top kayaks and cockpit sea kayaks and are able to do “one to one” sessions or small groups. We are also able to offer sea kayaking “local knowledge” for the more experienced paddlers. Please do not hesitate to contact the OSKC for prices or more information on any of our activities.
