North Devon is the perfect destination if you have a spirit of adventure and a love of the great outdoors! Discover the region by participating in a variety of watersports and explore the coast by boat or board. North Devon is a haven for surfers and those that love getting out on the waves and with the perfect conditions, it’s the best place for honing your skills or challenging yourself to something new. Much of the surfing, paddle boarding and other coastal adventure activities can be found in areas like Saunton, Croyde and Combe Martin and you’ll find plenty of organisations that offer everything from training sessions, guided tours and equipment hire, so you don’t even need to bring your own boards with you. If surfing isn’t your thing, wild swimming, jet skiing and just about everything else you can think of takes place here too, so there will be loads of opportunities to get out on the water.
If you love a challenge and getting your heart pumping, you’ll love being in this part of Devon. From the wild, open waters with the various sessions available there to the south west’s largest climbing wall, you’ll find it all here.
South Molton has a great indoor climbing wall which is great for all ages and abilities plus you can use it as the venue for your children’s birthday parties or stag/hen dos! Alternatively, head to Bideford for the North Devon Wake Park or visit one of the many activity centres where you can ski all year around!
If you haven’t quite got your sea legs yet and still want to be out enjoying the region’s natural playground, you’re in luck. You’ll find plenty of outdoor activity centres from places where you can ride a horse or swing through the trees or just play a round or two of golf.
If you’re someone who prefers getting involved to watching a match play out, take a look at the range of health clubs, gyms and sports activities in North Devon. The region has everything from shooting ranges to fishing lakes, so whatever you’re into, whether you want something gentle or something exhilarating, you’ll find something to suit you.
If gentle is what you’re after, make sure to spend some time exploring the region on foot using one of the many paths and trails that can be found in the region. From the south west coast path to the Tarka Trail, there are plenty of places to get out and about and with many of them being dog friendly, your four legged friends can join in too.
There is no need to miss out on top activities while in North Devon. Many of the activity centres and attractions offering adventure activities have facilities making them accessible to everyone, no matter what your ability. Devon as a whole really prides itself on being as inclusive as possible and there are options for all manner of ages and abilities. So whether you want to have a go at abseiling or just sailing, you’ll find somewhere that everyone can join in safely.
Our mix of spectacular countryside and superb coast makes the ideal setting for a great escape whatever your interest, so why not recharge your batteries in our stunning natural environment and return home fully refreshed and invigorated.
