Whether you’re a vegan yourself or fancy trying out the cuisine, you’re in the right place. We’ve grouped all the best vegan restaurants and eateries in the area into one blog post. Read on to discover our vegan’s guide to North Devon.

Purity Petal Cafe may just be our favourite vegan eatery in North Devon. The restaurant is completely egg and dairy-free meaning it’s a haven for vegans. No skimming through the menu is required – each dish is there to be enjoyed and devoured. The cafe serves a tempting lunch menu alongside delicious freshly-baked cakes and sweet treats.

Block is quite literally the new kid on the block in Barnstaple. The cafe’s owners are ‘allergic to boring food’ and this is certainly clear in their menu. Dishes range from Thai, French, Japanese, Mexican – the list is endless. The cafe pride themselves on freshly cooking each order so they’re always open to adapting dishes to make them vegan-friendly. Alongside this they always try to feature vegan dishes on the ever-changing menu.

Although not an exclusively vegan cafe, Tea on The Green in Westward Ho! certainly deliver when it comes to their vegan cakes. Their array of sweet treats change frequently, with the big weekend reveal being featured on their Facebook page every week. A couple of our vegan favourites include their vegan chocolate cake, banana and chocolate flapjack and chocolate brownie.

The Waterside is a family run restaurant situated right next to the historic Tarka Trail. Their menu is Italian based made with fresh, locally-sourced produce. They’re always happy to cater for vegans, offering a range of vegan dishes like the warm vegan tofu noodle salad above. What’s even better? Vegan cheese pizzas – need we say more? The Flame Factory’s vegan and vegetarian dishes are packed full of flavour and are delicious. Good news if you’re gluten-free too, the restaurant offers gluten-free pizza bases and burger buns prepared in their gluten-free zone to prevent cross contamination.

The Wild Thyme Cafe in Braunton always have a range of vegan dishes on their menu. Our favourite is their vegan breakfast, featuring Linda McCartney sausages, wilted spinach, mushrooms, hash browns, grilled tomatoes and toast – it’s certainly a belly filler and is a delicious treat even for non-vegans!

We may have featured our six favourite vegan eateries, but there are so many more to discover in North Devon! Head over to the North Devon Food Trail App to find them all.
