The Half Moon Inn is a sixteenth century, Grade Two listed historic fishing inn, which dates back to 1540. Nestled in the heart of the traditional, unspoilt Devon village of Sheepwash, and overlooking the Torridge Valley, our inn is located in some of the most picturesque countryside you’ll ever find.
With delicious home-cooked food and a well-stocked bar, the Half Moon Inn is well-known locally and further afield for the quality of our hospitality. We are also renowned for our links with local fishing and country sports.
As a traditional fishing inn, we are able to offer our guests exclusive access to seven miles of the River Torridge, where you can expect to catch salmon, sea trout and brown trout, depending on the season.
We are situated in the heart of rural Devon, and are surrounded by an abundance of nearby country estates with which we have a working relationship. We can arrange sporting days for individuals or teams of guns, followed by a relaxing meal, the occasional glass of port and a good night’s sleep back at the inn.
The inn offers 13 comfortable en-suite rooms with a large dining room and cosy bar area, an ideal place to hold a family gathering or works event. We are pet-friendly, our annexe is perfect for those who wish to bring their dogs, providing easy access to our courtyard and parking area. Dogs are restricted to guest bedrooms and bar, and must be friendly, clean and free of ticks and fleas!
