Stag and Hen Weekends don’t have to be just drinking and dancing (though North Devon has plenty of opportunity to do that if you like!), more and more people are turning to a more adventurous theme for their ‘last night of freedom’ and with the landscape and adventure activities on offer in North Devon, it is proving to be a popular place for Hen and Stag groups.
When it comes to being given the task of organising a Hen or Stag weekend, there is a lot to think about. Who is coming, where are you going to go, what can I arrange that everyone is going to like and most importantly, how can I make it memorable and fun for the bride/groom to be? No one wants to sole responsibility of organising the Hen or Stag, but if that job does fall to you, don’t let the pressure get to you, just head to North Devon instead.
Whether your group of friends are ones who like being active, ones who like being in the great outdoors or those that just don’t like the idea of a traditional drinking or pampering weekend, you’ll find plenty to amuse you in North Devon.
Whether you and your mates are seasoned adventurers or complete novices, you’ll find something to suit your group in North Devon. The miles of sandy beaches provide the perfect opportunity for a whole host of watersports, from surfing to paddle boarding to coasteering. Whether you want to organise yourselves or take instruction from one of the many surf schools and organisations that can be found all over North Devon.
You don’t have to head to the water though if you don’t want to. There are plenty of other activities that you can book for your Stag or Hen group. Why not try exploring Exmoor on dirtbikes, taking up archery, going horse riding, rock climbing or axe throwing? There are even indoor adventures to be had for those of you travelling to the region in poorer weather. From escape rooms to the wake park, there are lots of opportunities for adventure here.
One of the great things about the tradition of Stag/Hen dos is the fact that you can all get together, get back to basics and reinvigorate your friendships before the wedding. For some, having a hugely exciting day filled with thrills is enough, but for others, why not go for a more gentle approach? North Devon is perfect for camping or glamping and really escaping everyday life into the great outdoors. Why not book onto a bushcraft or geocaching tour? Or book a few night’s stay on Exmoor with some wild camping? The possibilities are endless.
There are several companies specialising in providing top quality Hen and Stag weekend packages, including activities and accommodation and these can be found all over the region. So, whether you’ve decided against one last big adventure with your mates or you just want to spend a few days away together somewhere pretty, they’ll be on hand to find the right activities and accommodation for you. Many of them also include food and drink as part of the package and of course, discounts for the bride/groom to be and are happy to arrange the decoration of your rooms. It really has never been easier to arrange a group outing!
