For those that love to party, dance and listen to live music into the early hours or those that are just night owls you’ll find that there are plenty of opportunities for fun in North Devon, from the clubs and bars to night time excursions in the National Park – there are lots of options for an exciting night time adventure.
North Devon is full of quaint, traditional pubs and many of them host live bands throughout the year from local favourites to up and coming talent and sometimes, more well known acts, live music fans will find there are plenty of gigs to enjoy in the region. If you’re in Croyde, the Thatch and the King’s Arms are famed for their live music nights, while the pubs in Ilfracombe and Barnstaple feature a lively events calendar and the holiday resorts in the region also offer live entertainment.
If you’re a bit of a performer yourself, make sure to keep your eyes peeled for open mic nights as these are popular throughout North Devon.
Many of the bars in the area host DJs too, so whether you’re in the mood for some rock and roll, something more sedate or something you can dance to, you’ll have plenty of options. And speaking of something you can dance to…
If early nights aren’t quite your thing and you have lots of energy left over from exploring during the day, why not head to one of the region’s night clubs with your friends for a party atmosphere and plenty of tunes to dance to.
The country’s oldest night club can be found in Woolacombe and regularly features sell out music events. Nearby in Barnstaple, there are a couple of late night establishments including clubs and bars who are open to the early hours with everything from cocktails to beer on the menu.
For something a bit more sedate, head to Exmoor as night falls and be amazed at the clear skies. The National Park is one of Europe’s Dark Skies Reserve sites and is one of the best places in the south west for star gazing. There are a number of organised events taking place all year around where you can get involved with star gazing and astronomy as well as other outdoor activities.
