Tucked away in rural North Devon is Trimstone Manor Country House Hotel. It is conveniently located 1/3 mile off the busy A361 however, once you arrive at the Hotel, you feel a world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Whether you are planning a romantic getaway, a fun family holiday or a special reunion, Trimstone Manor is just the place for you. We can also cater for business conferences, day functions and other special celebrations.
Nestled within 48 acres of tranquil and picturesque gardens and countryside near the North Devon Coast and Exmoor, we are ideally located for eating out, shopping, theatre or cinema visits in Barnstaple or Ilfracombe as well as the beaches of Woolacombe, Croyde or Saunton and the majesty of Exmoor. North Devon is truly a beautiful place.
The wonderful, local beaches provide the opportunity for a wide range of activities to be tried - especially surfing and coaststeering. We also have glorious walking, with the Tarka Trail (part of 450 miles of disused railway covering the whole of North Devon, used for cycling and walking) only a mile away and of course there is the South West Coast Path where we have one of the largest and nicest segments on our doorstep. For the more energetic there’s cycling, horse-riding, off-road driving, quad biking, clay pigeon shooting, fishing, golfing... all nearby. Woolacombe, which has previously won TripAdvisor’s ‘Best beach in the UK’ accolade twice in a row, is the closest beach - eight minutes by car - but Putsborough, Croyde, Ilfracombe and Saunton are no great distance either and beautiful Lee Bay is three miles away for great rock-pooling! Then there is Exmoor just a short distance in the other direction (Hunters’ Inn in the picturesque Heddon Valley is only eleven miles from us for example)!
All our bedrooms are en-suite with a television and integrated DVD player and we have high speed Wifi available throughout the Hotel. Most of the Prestige rooms also have large, vertical safes for your valuables. We even have a couple of Prestige studios that have small kitchenettes so you can be a little more self-sufficient.
If you wish to spend the day around the Hotel there is plenty to do, in any weather, as the price of your stay includes the use of our indoor heated pool (in season from Easter until the end of October) and sauna (coin operated), gym, traditional games room with table football, pool table and table tennis, gardens, parkland and outdoor tennis area, plus our Lounge Bar is available for you at any time with books, DVDs and games to borrow.
We have a small poultry collection and two enclosed geese which we are sure will interest, plus our two peafowl, two emus and our latest addition of 3 rare breed turkeys! Our flat gardens are yours to enjoy and there are picnic tables on the lawns. We have a stone barbeque pit within the amenity field which guests are free to use subject to availability, along with a trampoline which supervised children can use.
We offer breakfast to our Hotel guests for £12 per person per day (children under twelve eat for only £6).
If you wish to try local eateries there is something for every taste. Whether it’s fine dining at Thomas Carr @ The Olive Room in Ilfracombe, fish and chips from the award-winning Squires in Braunton, a country pub meal at the lovely Crown Inn, West Down (our nearest pub just 6 minutes’ drive away) or a freshly made curry on Barricane beach during the warmer months you won’t be disappointed. We can help you choose where you would like to eat and even call to book your table if that helps – just pop to Reception during your stay.
We hope that, whatever you choose to do, you will enjoy a relaxing and refreshing break at Trimstone Manor Country House Hotel.
