The Collingdale Guest House

About

The Collingdale Guest House is an award-winning, AA four star Guest House situated directly on the South West Coastal Path with panoramic views of Ilfracombe harbour and the cliff top scenery of Hillsborough Nature Reserve. We offer affordable, quality accommodation which is perfect for your Devon holiday.

Our Bed and Breakfast in Ilfracombe is beautifully situated in a once grand Victorian terrace of houses in an elevated position, with miles of uninterrupted views across the harbour. You can see Damien Hirst’s sculpture, Verity and the magnificent cliff top scenery of Hillsborough Nature Reserve.

Beautifully furnished throughout, there is an elegant guest lounge, a cosy ‘honesty’ bar and spacious dining room where you can enjoy the award-winning breakfast.

All our rooms are decorated and furnished to a high standard with deep comfortable mattresses, flat screen TVs with Freeview, plus a well-stocked beverage tray, complimentary toiletries and mineral water, big fluffy white bath towels and lots of thoughtful little extras, including free WiFi in all rooms! We have nine guest bedrooms, six of which enjoy the spectacular sea views, the remaining three overlook the front of the house and the wooded area beyond.

Our balcony view rooms are very popular, as you can sit out with your morning cuppa or a glass or wine and watch the comings and goings in the harbour. Rooms at the top of the house have vaulted ceilings and command the best views of the harbour, so if you don’t mind a few steps it is worth the climb for the view.

Our larger family rooms cater for two adults and one child aged 8 years or above.

As the house and accommodation is spread over several floors with no ground floor bedrooms, we may not be suitable for guests with restricted mobility, so please call to discuss or advise at the time of booking if you would prefer a room on a lower floor

During your stay, you should start the day with our delicious award-winning breakfast which   are freshly cooked to order using handmade sausages, thick cut bacon and free range eggs and a good choice of cereals, fresh fruit and yogurt. There are lots of vegetarian options available too, including the popular Meat Free Full Devon. Or, why not try something from the sea with kippers or locally caught naturally smoked haddock served with a poached egg?

The breakfast room leads to our sun terrace, which overlooks the harbour where you can start the day gently with a cup of coffee or end it on a relaxing note with a glass of wine in the evening.

THE AREA

Situated directly on the South West Coastal Path with it’s stunning natural scenic beauty, we are ideal for walkers and are a few minutes’ walk from the picturesque historic harbour with its many fine dining restaurants, cafes and shops.  Ilfracombe is fast becoming a haven for art lovers with so many galleries and the stunning Damien Hirst statue at the end of the quay. Staying at the Collingdale, you are well placed to explore the many art galleries, quirky shops and tea rooms of Ilfracombe.  The town centre, Landmark Theatre and famous Tunnels Beaches are also within easy walking distance, as well as Ilfracombe’s quirky museum, aquarium and the beautiful parks and gardens. Many of the boats in the harbour offer day trips to scout seals and dolphins and also offer deep sea fishing.  You can also take a day trip to Lundy Island, which is an habitat for wildlife and is set against a backdrop of stunning natural beauty making it a walkers’ paradise.  Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton are just ten minutes away by car and the rolling hills of Exmoor and the delights of Clovelly, Appledore and Westwood Ho! are also nearby.   As we say we are Minutes from the Moors Seconds from the Sea.

With our AA 4 Star Silver, AA Breakfast Award and Finalist in the AA Friendliest B&B Award, you can be assured of a warm welcome, just give us a call or book directly on our own website for the best online rates guaranteed.
