This spacious campsite is located in the gorgeous coastal North Devon countryside, close to the Cornwall border and the South West Coast Path. It’s perfect for families and couples and, as the name suggests, the cute fishing village of Clovelly (famed for its cobbled streets and pretty harbour) is just five minutes’ drive away.
Guests can choose from a spacious pitch for their own tent, or hire a cosy pre-erected Bell Tent (sleeps up to 4) which is up and ready for to settle into on arrival and comes with a picnic table and fire pit outside. Bell Tents are unfurnished, so guests need to bring their own camping gear including bedding.
It’s the sort of place where you could peacefully sit back and watch the sheep grazing on the surrounding pastures - or perhaps take a gentle walk through the fields to take in coastal views across Bideford Bay to Saunton Sands. There’s a ‘hidden gem’ of a beach just a couple of miles away at Buck’s Mills which is perfect for splashing about and rockpooling, and the large sandy stretch of beach at Westward Ho! (which also offers amusements and a choice of cafes, bars and restaurants) is just a fifteen minute drive down the coast.
You may well have more activity in mind though when staying here: the site sits in farmland just next to The Milky Way Adventure Park, an award-winning family attraction recently named #2 in the UK by TripAdvisor, so you’ll have easy access to days of family fun. Guests staying at Clovelly Fields Campsite get special rates at The Milky Way too by booking VIP pass holder tickets … just be sure to book ahead, because it’s a popular place.
And there’s more … on the other side of the site is the North Devon Wake Park, which has wakeboarding for both novices and experts, an inflatable aqua park and a cool lakeside clubhouse for chilling out and watching the action with delicious snacks and cold beers. For even more watersports action, it’s around a 25-minute drive to the surf beaches at Bude and Sandymouth Bay.
This is a pop-up site but it’s still got a good collection of facilities around its spacious pitches: guests have access to washing-up facilities, portaloos, showers and toilets with sinks. Food shops, a chippie and an award-winning pub are within five minutes’ drive, and there’s a choice of large supermarkets 15 minutes away in Bideford. Please note: as this is a pop-up campsite these are grass, non-electric pitches for tents only. There is a minimum 3 night stay on peak weekends.
Things to note:
Sorry but we can’t accept dogs - there are too many sheep living in the fields all around us!
Raised BBQ's and Firepits are allowed but please no fires or BBQs placed directly on the ground and no foraging for wood. BBQs and firepits must have continuous adult supervision and use seasoned firewood logs, charcoal or briquettes only. They must be kept within your pitch but away from tents, cars etc and fully extinguished before you retire for the night.
One car is allowed to drive onto the pitch - extra vehicles must be parked in the designated area alongside the field. Please note that in wet weather you may not be able to drive your car onto your pitch. No vehicle movement between 9 p.m. and 9 a.m. - you should leave your car on the hard standing alongside the field if you wish to arrive or leave between these times.
This is a quiet site perfect for families and couples. Group bookings of 4 or more adults and single-sex bookings of 3 or more people are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).
