Carpenters is a lovely centrally heated, 3 bedroomed detached bungalow which comfortably sleeps 6 people. It is situated in the coastal village of Combe Martin and combines the convenience of a village location with a beautiful beach setting. There are wonderful sea views from the kitchen/diner, lounge and front bedroom as well as splendid views of rolling hills inland. The property has space to park 2 cars and, for a small additional fee, you can bring up to 2 dogs with you to enjoy all the many wonderful walks. However, you must book early if you don’t want to miss out on this great property as we have many guests who return year after year!
Carpenters is ideally situated for exploring Exmoor as it is located on the South West Coast Path in the shadow of the famous Little Hangman and Great Hangman hills, which offer stunning views along the rugged coastline for those intrepid enough to make the climb! However, if the weather is fine, why not just enjoy a glass of wine on the decking overlooking the bay with its fabulous views of the sea and hills. If it is evening, you might also be lucky enough to experience a magical sunset over the sea, where the sea turns red and then silver. If you visit the bungalow in winter, rough seas can make for a spectacular demonstration of nature at its most powerful and on a clear night you can see a profusion of stars and you might even glimpse the Milky Way!
Carpenters is extremely well equipped and has everything that you need to make your holiday an enjoyable experience. There are 3 bedrooms; one is a double bedroom with a king-sized bed and en-suite shower room, the other contains 2 twin beds and the third has adult sized bunk beds sleeping 2 people. Each bedroom contains a wardrobe, bedside drawer units and a chair, and there is an additional bathroom and separated toilet in the property. A cot and high chair are available on request and a hairdryer is also provided. Linen and towels can be hired for a small additional charge
The bungalow has a lounge with a 3-seater sofa and 3 matching upholstered chairs. There is a nest of tables and a CD player and DVD player. The flat screen TV is connected to FreeView and there is a recordable Humax box which connects to FreeSat. Free WiFi is also included. The kitchen/diner can seat 6 and if you decide to eat in there is a toaster, an electric oven and hob as well as a microwave to cook your food, and then you can relax and allow the dishwasher to clean all your crockery and cutlery. There is also a fridge/freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. Outside there is an enclosed garden and decking with a rattan table and chairs on which to enjoy a drink and a snack.
The village of Combe Martin stages many events, the most famous of which is the Hunting of the Earl of Rhon. There are there are several pubs and shops within a few minutes walk of Carpenters, including a bakery, pharmacy, general store and a 7-11 convenience store. During the summer there are also several seafront shops offering holiday mementos, beach and outdoors ware and there are also kayaks for hire. If the tide is out many rock pools can be explored from a path at the side of the beach.
Combe Martin is a good centre to explore Exmoor as well as the surfing beaches of Woolacombe, Saunton Sands and Croyde. The towns of Ilfracombe, Lynton & Lynmouth and Barnstaple are nearby and are worth a visit. There is much to keep the children amused during the summer, such as a visit to Watermouth Castle, The Big Sheep or Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park.
