Bampfield Farm Cottages are where holiday memories are made, set in acres of rolling hills on a working family farm, this is the perfect base for your holiday.
Bampfield Farm is hidden away in a tranquil and secluded area of beautiful countryside in North Devon, with beaches and the rare beauty of Exmoor just a few minutes away.
We offer two spacious four-star cottages on our farm, both fully equipped with all the home comforts you need for a luxurious and relaxing stay. They both feature a wood burner with unlimited logs for cosy nights and those of you who would like to visit outside of the summer seasons, there is also free wi-fi, central heating throughout and all the linen and towels are included, which means more room in the suitcase for clothes and space for holiday gifts!
Our Old Granary cottage sleeps 4-8 people, while Haven Cottage sleeps 2-6 people. The Old Granary is incredibly spacious and is furnished to ensure your comfort, it has four bedrooms, so is perfect for larger families or groups. This special cottage also features a high wooden ceiling, French windows opening onto a courtyard and the large kitchen boasts a lovely pine table for those special family occasions. With free wifi, a TV and plenty of games to play, the children will be kept entertained, let them enjoy themselves in the safety of the playroom next door while you snuggle up to the wood burner with a glass of wine or two or a hot chocolate.
If you’re looking for something a little smaller, our charming Haven cottage might be the one for you. Originally built in the 17th century, many of the original features, like the oak lintels and wooden beams remain. In the past, the cows were milked in the double room and the milk bottled in the bunk bed room, which was once a dairy. The Haven has an open plan design, with a fitted kitchen and a spacious lounge. The views from this cottage are spectacular, you can see rolling hills and down to the ocean. The stable door opens onto a patio, where you can find a garden area with views of the fields and farm animals. We care for the cottages ourselves and ensure high standards throughout. There are stunning rural views across the surrounding countryside, which you can enjoy from the site, as both cottages offer outdoor space complete with garden furniture for those sun worshippers who are happy to recline outside.
There are a range of wonderful places to visit nearby making the farm a perfect base, whether you’re looking for countryside, sea side, walking holidays or you want to explore the towns of North Devon, there is something for everyone. There are also two national parks just a short drive away and much of the surrounding landscape has been named an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Whether you’re on a family holiday, a romantic get away or a group of friends looking for something fun to do during your time with us, there are a host of exciting attractions just a stone’s throw away. Exmoor Zoo, the Big Sheep and the Milky Way have plenty of things to do for all ages, while activities like Air Extreme and Keypits Off Road Adventures offer something a little more intense. You can even create your own adventure by booking a sea safari or taking a self guided hike across Exmoor, the possibilities are endless!
Bampfield Farm is close to a number of excellent places to eat and drink, so whatever you’re in the mood for, you’re never too far away from the perfect dining experience. The nearby town of Barnstaple has plenty of options from fine dining to fast food, as do Georgeham and Croyde. Westward Ho! and Braunton also have a number of child friendly and casual restaurants full of delicious, locally sourced food.
Bampfield Farm is a working farm that has been farmed by the same family for 54 years. It has always been a dairy farm, in the early days, the milk was delivered to residents of the neighbouring towns and villages, when what is now Haven Cottage was used for milking cows. Nowadays, the milk is collected by a tanker and taken away to be bottled or made into cheese. There are still cows on the farm and we offer the opportunity to see the cows being milked and looking after their calves in the spring time. We also rear free range chickens that you can spot around the farm. You can collect the freshly laid eggs for your breakfast and homegrown beef and pork sausages are available to buy onsite.
