Visit Devon’s Director Sally Everton has been busy continuing to drive promotion of Devon as a county and keeping tourism industry up to date with everything that is happening nationally.
In August, Sally has been working on the following:
- ITN - request for interview selection of businesses affected by Pingdemic and staff shortages. Michael Caines, Bovey Castle and gastro pubs/cafes
- Request from Classic FM to run week long feature on Devon on the Alexander Armstrong show in October, to raise funds for disadvantaged people across the UK
- Journalist and blogger requests for Tripsavvy on Dartmoor National Park, secret Devon and authors of Devon (3 different articles)
- BBC Newsround - filming on Devon beaches on 'How to Rockpool on Devon beaches' to tie in National Marine Week
- Marie Watsham - Comms Officer at DCC working collaboratively for the Tour of Britain race and publicity.
- Finalise interviewees for a positive story for ITN to cover 'Pingdemic' and challenges that go with it for the industry in height of season
- Complete evalution forms for Destgination Relience Funding for Visit Devon - send to Visit England
- Meeting with Plimpsoll Productions re Britain by Beach Scott Topping Production Researcher.
- Meeting with Polly Frost - DCC Economy Team Manager on tourism and hospitality and launching a programme for entrepreneurial skills for the sector. Ideas and way forward
- HEROG - tourism and hospitality update
- Andrea Hodges - re new centre at Exeter Airport
- June Impact survey data - TSWRC share data and topline headlines with DCMS, HEROG and others
- Victoria Bendle and Simone Marillier - re skills shortages and development of Open to Skills project for Tourism and Hospitality run by DCC
- Various Visit Devon meetings with regards to Autumn Marketing Campaign, working in collaboration with DATA on Autumn Competition and campaign, Winter and into 2022
- Various journalists requests - Independent for Culture and Cuisine in Devon for the Autumn, The Guardian re staff shortages and challenges, itineraries needed for Australian Journalist, and image requests from others.
- Working with Paul and Tina on the Autumn Campaign, content and film for the carousel, landing page for competition for DATA etc
- Content and images for the Food and Travel Magazine for Devon feature Oct 2021
- Meet with Anne Blackham re DATA and VisitDevon - Autumn/Winter competition with Golden Ticket - coordinate
- Source clean Visit Devon film content working with Soundview for Autumn Campaign - coordinate with RH and scheduling.
- Meeting with Emma Johnson - Channel 4 with sourcing permissions for fiklming across many Devon beaches for new series
- Ongoing meeting with regard to Tour of Britain - share content and tool kit to team
- Working with VB PR team in Sydney Australia - press visit early September writing for The Western Australian - both digital and print with reach of 1.7M Theme Dreamnow/Travel later. 5 day itinerary across Devon. Suggested itinerary for Steve McKenna, commencing 31st August.
- Working with DCC Economy, Enterprise and Skills Dept on various messaging with regards to Bank Holiday travel
- Coordinate and invite small stakeholder roundtable meeting with Laura Backhouse - DCMS. Held at Higher Wiscombe
- Various local media requests for interviews - Spotlight, R Devon, Devon Live, The Telegraph, BBC Breakfast etc on Staycation, messaging over BH weekend
- Board meeting - Visit Devon
- Day to day requests for information via info@ email.
- Submit content to Visit Britain press team re Autunm Breaks, Half term etc Claire Keenan
- Working with DCC on permisssions for filming off shore with C 4 - ongoing
- Guest on the mid morning show with Fitz on R Devon hour long discussion on staycation and the challenges facing our sector along with Michael Caines and also Cofton Holidays in Dawlish
