English Tourism Week is an annual celebration of English tourism, this year the event took place between 30th March and 7th April, with a whole host of events and activities taking place.
The aim of the week is to raise the profile of the industry and to celebrate the value and quality of tourism in England by working with destinations, visitors, accommodation providers, attractions and anyone else working in the industry. The campaign provides tourism businesses with a vehicle to kick start the season and promote their local tourism products and offers. This year’s event received widespread coverage in national and regional media, as well as being supported by the industry and the British Government. Tourism Minister, Michael Ellis MP, was also involved and held a parliamentary drop-in session with 39 MPs about English tourism this week.
It isn’t too late to get involved, you can continue to support the industry and English Tourism Week by using the #EnglishTourismWeek19 on social media and submitting your events onto the online events platform. Look out for details of next year’s events and make sure to upload information about any events or activities you are holding to help celebrate to the Visit England online form.
The English tourism sector touches everyone in the country, whether they are part of the industry or not, it generates around £106 billion a year to the economy which then supports thousands of businesses.
