Set majestically on the bubbling upper reaches of the River Teign, Gidleigh Park enjoys an exquisite location on the very edge of Dartmoor National Park. Famed for its culinary credentials and award-winning restaurant, the hotel offers an air of tranquillity and romance within a Tudor-style country house set within 107 acres of mature grounds.
Once inside, the interior design throughout the house draws inspiration from the Arts and Crafts movement; luxurious fabrics sit alongside antiques for their authenticity and warmth; exquisite art blends seamlessly with lovingly restored wood panelling and an intimate atmosphere pervades the air, creating a home-from-home the moment guests arrive. The majority of the 24 guestrooms and suites overlook the beautiful gardens and the river and all are distinctive in style.
Fine dining is celebrated at the heart of any event at Gidleigh Park. Executive Head Chef, Chris Eden’s menus are beautifully laced with touches of adventure and invention, creating refined plates where flavour is king. Undeniably refined with an exacting technique, Chris is also renowned for his honest, unfussy approach to cooking. His menus are contemporary with a nod to tradition, supporting local Devonshire farmers and producers to ensure that only the finest quality ingredients make it on to the plate. Matching the high standards in the kitchen, Gidleigh Park’s internationally renowned wine cellar accommodates over 1,300 bins and 13,000 bottles from around the world.
Welcoming guests as if to a private home, Gidleigh Park is an elegant venue for your perfect wedding. Your ceremony can take place in the oak-panelled Drawing Room, the intimate Conservatory or the airy Teign, Meldon or Nattadon rooms. Each offers stunning views across the gardens, with the Teign room opening directly out on to the terrace. In the warmer months, the beautiful thatched Pavilion Cottage on the croquet lawns is a magical backdrop to exchange vows. For your drinks reception, you and your guests can relax on the terrace with a glass of Champagne and perhaps enjoy a game of croquet on the lawn. Meander through the grounds that surround the hotel, explore the unique Victorian water garden or the enchanting bluebell woods.
Gidleigh Park is an idyllic private country retreat, perfect for an exclusive use wedding or an intimate day wedding celebration with evening reception.

Map & Directions
Directions from London:
You can come via the M4 and M5, or the M3 and A303.
If coming via the M4, go west until Junction 20, then take the M5 South until Junction 31, turning onto the A30 West (then follow directions below).
If coming via the M3, go south until Junction 8, then take the A303 West. After Ilminster, the A303 becomes the A30. Keep on the A30 until you reach the outskirts of Exeter, join the M5 at Junction 29 and continue on the M5 until Junction 31, then re-join the A30 West.
On the A30 West, 15 miles west of Exeter, turn left onto the A382 (signposted Moretonhampstead) and then follow signs to Chagford. Do not go to Gidleigh.
In Chagford Square, facing a shop called Bowdens, with the Spar shop on your right, turn right. After 150 yards, take the right fork and go downhill to Factory Crossroads. Go straight into Holy Street and follow the lane for one and a half miles to the end.
If you are travelling by car, the hotel has a private car park on-site which is complimentary to our guests. We recommend that our guests do not rely on satellite navigation to find Gidleigh Park, and follow signs to Chagford not to the village of Gidleigh.
Public Transport Directions
Gidleigh Park is a 30-40 minute drive from Exeter St David's train station. You will require a taxi from the train station, which we recommend you organise in advance. Please contact our Reception team who will be happy to advise.
Exeter International Airport is just 30 miles from the hotel. If you require transport from the airport please contact our Reception team who will be happy to help. Otherwise, we would recommend hiring a car (bearing in mind that the roads near the hotel are rather narrow!).
