There are few things better than rewarding yourself with a tasty drink after walking around the beautiful scenery of Seaton. From the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, the South West Coast Path and the Wetlands Nature Reserve, there are plenty of places to explore and in between them all, great pubs and bars to stop off in along the way.
Whether you are looking for interesting attractions or expanses of beautiful countryside, Seaton is a great place to spend a few days. Not only are you near the Jurassic Coast, with its incredible rock formations, beaches and history, but there are also a number of great walking trails as well as several family friendly attractions. Because of this, the pubs and bars in the area are also known for being welcoming to families. Many of them provide play areas, as well as dedicated children’s menus. As the town is popular among dog walkers, you’ll also find a number of pubs that are happy to let your pups rest their legs and rehydrate too.
Seaton has a great selection of places to grab a bite to eat and the pubs offer some of the best dishes in the region. Choose from gourmet or family friendly pub grub style menus all made from some of the best and freshest local ingredients. If you are a fan of seafood, you’re in luck. You’ll find that many of the pubs offering fish dishes, from fish and chips to crab sandwiches, will be made from produce caught daily in both Seaton and Beer.
Both Seaton and its neighbour, Beer, have long histories involving their proximity to the coast. From fishing to piracy, both Seaton and Beer have a long connection to the sea and this is reflected in the atmospheres in the local pubs. Some of the older establishments have links back to smugglers and pirates as well as fishermen and those in the King’s Navy. These days they all have a warm, friendly feeling to them, but this history is not forgotten. From facts on the walls to original features and menu items named after famous figures, you’ll really be able to immerse yourself in the history of the region just by spending time in one.
If you’re not familiar with the region, seeing the town of Beer might make you get excited (or not, depending on your penchant for the drink), but don’t think that you’ll only find an abundance of Beer there. The pubs and bars in both Beer and Seaton offer a range of locally brewed drinks, including beer, ale and of course, the West Country favourite, cider, but you’ll also find wines, gins, vodkas and other drinks that have been crafted and produced around Devon. The warm climate and the richness of the soil in this part of the UK make it the perfect location for growing the ingredients that make our favourite tipples, and the pubs and bars around the region like to showcase this as much as possible. Whatever pub you choose to visit during your time in Seaton, you’ll find a number of locally produced drinks either on tap or by the bottle right alongside the more familiar names. We recommend trying at least one of them if you can!
Because Seaton has grown in popularity as a holiday destination, in part because of the Jurassic Coast and the number of attractions, the pubs and bars in the town offer a number of modern facilities such as WiFi and big screens where you can catch up on both national and international sporting events. This is in addition to the great event calendars that the pubs and bars have throughout the year with local performers and community games like skittles, darts, bingo and quizzes taking place.
