What's On in Westward Ho!

There are a host of regular events taking place Westward Ho! with a number of well loved events being held every year. One event usually held in May is the Festival of Kites, which takes advantage of the geography of the area. The Westward Ho! Festival of Kites is organised by the village’s business association and a local business, throughout the event there are demonstrations by experts from the different kite disciplines and the chance for visitors to enjoy a day of kite flying.  

Building sandcastles for charity 

Another regular event which raises money for local good causes is the Sandcastle Competition. Held on the beach near the promenade where the creations are visible to everyone and with live entertainment throughout the day. There are even prizes for the best sandcastles.  

Remembering local celebrities 

One of the most famous residents of Westward Ho! is the author and poet Rudyard Kipling, best known for writing the Jungle Book. Every September, the people of Westward Ho! come together to celebrate his life with trails and tours. Rudyard Kipling also gave his name to the Kipling Tor where you can enjoy walks and outdoor adventures and is well worth a visit.  

As well as the regular big events taking place in Westward Ho!, there are several other things going on throughout the year, including live music performances and seasonal events, like Christmas light switch on events and more.
