Picturesque views

Okehampton is in a pretty location and one of the most picturesque views can be found at Okehampton Castle which was mentioned in the Domesday Book and at one time was the largest castle in the county. Though ruins now, the castle has some lovely walks around the grounds and the river.

It isn’t just a haven for walkers, Okehampton has a good selection of independent shops, pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and cafes and lots of pretty places for resting with a picnic.

The town is also home to a golf course, museum, swimming pool and Simmons Park, plus there are a number of National Trust properties nearby which are always worth a visit.
