Things to Do in Dawlish

If you like your holidays to be full of activities, then a trip to the Torbay area is always a good idea. Dawlish sits within the Torbay area and is close to Teignmouth, Torquay and Paignton, so you there is no end to the things you can do.

Enjoy the natural world

Dawlish is home to two beaches and a nature and wildlife reserve, both beaches frequently win Blue Flag awards and the nature reserve is one of the most ecologically important in the region.

From the town beach, you can take a boat trip around the bay and in the summer months, you might even spot a dolphin or seal or two frolicking past. The town’s other beach, is one of South Devon’s top family beaches and is internationally recognised by its distinctive sand dunes. Between the two beaches and the nature reserve, you can easily spend a whole day out and about enjoying the great outdoors. If nature is your thing, you can also take a stroll through the town centre and see how many of the iconic black swans you can spot. The swans have been a staple on the river since the early 1900s.

Dawlish is also a haven for walkers and cyclists with lots of routes in and out of the town. The Exe Estuary Trail will take you from Dawlish to Exmouth while the South West Coast Path takes you along the coast to either Exmouth in one direction or Teignmouth in the other.
