Food & Drink in Croyde
In between all the surfing and exploring, you’ll need food to re-energise and lucky for you, there are several incredible restaurants, cafes and other eateries selling snacks and sweet treats to get rid of those hunger pangs while you’re visiting Croyde.
Croyde is in the north of Devon and can be found on the award-winning north Devon coast between Saunton and Ilfracombe, it is a great place to visit for a change of scenery from the larger towns and with its array of country pubs and seafront cafes and restaurants, you’re never short of somewhere to stop for a rest and a spot of lunch.
Surf and turf
While Croyde is known as being paradise for surfers because of the natural wave formations that can be found on Croyde Bay and its proximity to other famous surf spots at Saunton Sands and Putsborough, it is important to make sure you stop now and again for a bite to eat. There are plenty of places dotted around both the sea front and into the village of Croyde to tempt you out of the water and being a haven for surfers, there are many of them that won’t require you to dispose of your boards first. You’ll find that some of them have places to store your boards much like you would your umbrella so there’s nothing to delay you getting back out on the waves. Except of course that we recommend you let your dinner go down first!
Being so close to the coast is also great for seafood fans, you’ll find lots of great options in and around Croyde made up of fresh local produce caught in the bays around the village and delivered to your plate that same day.
Good for families
Croyde is often chosen by families looking for a quiet beach holiday due to its sheltered cove and the life guards which roam the beach during peak times. Because of this you’ll find that there are children’s menus at the majority of the village’s restaurants and pubs so that the whole family can enjoy a great meal out together. Not only that, but you’ll find that the establishments in Croyde are mainly dog friendly too so you can work up an appetite together exploring Baggy Point and the other walking trails that can be picked up around the village before returning to indulge in a rewarding meal.
Because Croyde still retains much of its original charm, it is the ideal place to go for anyone wanting a traditional experience. The pubs and restaurants can be found in buildings with thatched rooves, the roads and pavements around them are narrow and some of them are even cobbled. Though Croyde is thriving and has many visitors, everyone who goes there is agreed on keeping the historic and tranquil atmosphere alive, so you’ll find that it is a warm and friendly, but also peaceful place to grab a bite.
The pubs, restaurants and cafes in and around Croyde offer a great place to rest up after a full day of exploring the coast whether you’re on foot, board or boat and give you some incredible clifftop views of the North Devon Coastline.
