Things to Do in Beer

Though it is small, there are no end of things to do when visiting Beer. With a host of family friendly attractions and plenty of walks, with easy access to the South West Coast Path, East Devon Way and Jurassic Coast, it is hard to be bored when visiting the village.

Beach based activities

Beer has a rich maritime history which is celebrated throughout the village and many of the best loved activities are based around the beach. The annual Regatta takes place in the summer, while the beach itself provides the ideal environment for crabbing and rockpooling – just remember to put back anything you catch!

Being along the Jurassic Coast, you can also spot the odd fossil while exploring the beach and the coastal paths – so keep your eyes peeled!

If you want to truly experience life as a Beer fisherman, make sure to check out the fishing boat trips which set off from the beach regularly. A voyage on one of these boats will even give you the chance to catch your own fish!

Family friendly attractions

Beer’s extensive history can be explored in the village’s many attractions. The Beer Quarry Caves feature several tours and exhibitions and Pecorama, which overlooks the bay is the ultimate nostalgic day out.

The village is also home to the Jubilee Gardens, which were commissioned as part of Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. The gardens are the ideal spot for picnics and enjoying the sunshine – it won’t be any surprise why Beer was considered the region’s top picnic spot by BBC’s Countryfile.

This combined with the extensive events calendar, including live music festivals, workshops and of course, the Regatta, give you plenty of things to look forward to during your stay.
