Devon has a diverse history and has over 400 Commonwealth War Grave sites across the county.
The sites are managed by the CWGC, who honour and care for the men and women of the Commonwealth forces who died in the first and second world wars. They now maintain 23,000 locations all over the world.
Below are a selection of sites across Devon, you can find Commonwealth War Graves near you here.
The cemetery is open daily to pedestrians from 9am – 4.30pm and to vehicles from 9am until 4pm during the week and 11am – 3pm at weekends.
Plymouth Efford Cemetery contains 338 scattered burials of the First World War, the 109 Second World War burials including 5 unidentified.
Plymouth City Crematorium is situated in the cemetery and 61 servicemen and women of the second world war whose remains were cremated.
Located on the Hoe, which looks directly towards Plymouth Sound. It is accessible at all times. Plymouth Naval Memorial commemorates 7,251 sailors of the First World War and 15,933 of the Second World War.
