Devon Film Itineraries – Action films

You might not associate the rolling countryside of Devon with action films, but several were filmed around the region, including Edge of Tomorrow and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Day 1

For our action film tour of Devon, we’re starting in North Devon, specifically the North Devon coast.

Saunton Sands is one of the best-loved beaches in Devon. It regularly wins awards and is a surfer’s paradise. The beach features in Edge of Tomorrow, starring Tom Cruise and  Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

While you’re here, why not enjoy some surfing? Neighbouring Saunton Sands is Croyde Bay – here you can follow the Baggy Point trail, which is managed by the National Trust and gives you some amazing views over the North Devon coastline.

Day 2

Taking it down a notch, today, we’re heading to Hartland Point, where the Night Manager, a BBC thriller starring Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston filmed. Hartland Quay and Hartland Point are both beautifully rustic and you can easily get swept up in the drama of the area.

From here, spend the day at Hartland Abbey – still a family home, this epic estate has plenty to keep you entertained. It has been used as a filming location for various projects, which you can learn more about while there.
