As Ilfracombe's first female Harbour Master, it is no wonder that Cpt Georgina Carlo-Paat MBE is an expert when it comes to Devon's coast. As well as being Ilfracombe's Harbour Master, Cpt Georgina is a Class 1 Master Mariner, which means she is able to captain any ship of any size anywhere in the world. She started her illustrious career at the age of 21 when she joined the crew of a ship as a cook, finally working her way up to being the Dredging Industry's first ever female captain. 

Her career has taken her across the world and has visited both the Arctic and Antarctic and was awarded an MBE in 2021 for her services in promoting women at sea.
