The Kingswood & Devoran Hotel

About

A relaxing retreat at the centre of Sidmouth's delightful Regency seafront, The Kingswood and Devoran Hotel has bags of Victorian character and modern comforts, whilst still retaining the ambience, service and hospitality for which the hotel has become known for nearly a hundred years. With its close proximity to the town centre, the Kingswood and Devoran Hotel is ideal for exploring the town's excellent variety of independent shops, the popular attractions in nearby towns and of course the beauty of the Jurassic Coast and East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The Kingswood and Devoran has been under the same family ownership for over sixty years and our guests and staff are always warmly welcomed and considered one of the family.
There are a number of room options, all of which are tastefully furnished, each having their own individual style, and, typically for a building of this era, varying in character and size. So, whether you are looking for a cosy single to a large spacious family room, you’ll find something that is individual in style and design and full of all the comforts you could wish for. All our rooms are en-suite and many of the sea facing rooms have a private balcony, bay or picture window. These rooms have stunning views of the Jurassic Coast, particularly Lyme Bay, be sure to get up early to watch the sunrise over the horizon – it’s truly a wonderful sight!

All our rooms come complete with a TV, radio, telephone and refreshment tray and free WiFi, among other facilities, allowing our guests to catch up on work, stream films in their down time or just keep in touch with friends and family. Our rooms are easily adaptable for those needing spacious family rooms with more space for your brood or intimate, single rooms for those travelling solo.

Our onsite restaurant is open for guests and non-residents with food available throughout the day, from morning coffee with home made cake, through to light lunches and afternoon tea. All our menus are packed full of fresh, local and seasonal produce, proving that Devon’s seafood is some of the best in the world. For those of you with big appetites, be sure to book a table in our sea-facing restaurant for our five course table d’hote.
The restaurant has a number of rooms available, including the historic Kingswood Room, our function room, plus a cosy private dining and meeting room which can comfortably host eighteen in a boardroom style, known as the Trow Room.
The Kingswood Room has a certain historical flair to it as it was formerly the billiard room for the Victorian Brine Baths which once stood where the Kingswood and Devoran is now. The room can accommodate up to sixty for a formal dinner.
We can accommodate a wide range of events, whether it is a special occasion, business dinner or just a get together with your friends for lunch, so be sure to consider the restaurant at the Kingswood and Devoran for your next event.

You’ll find a host of seasonal, fresh and exciting dishes using the best local produce available. There are different dining options available all day every day, so whatever you’re in the mood for, whether that’s a bistro, something more classic, a craft ale or the best fish and chips in the south west, you’ll find it here.

Our flower-filled patio, lounges and restaurants both overlook the sea with stunning views of the World Heritage Coast and provide the perfect spot for watching the world go by. The beautiful East Devon coastland is right on your doorstep with restful walks and the fresh sea air and perfectly located for exploring the beautiful countryside and historical towns and sites of East Devon.

Guests will love the world heritage coastal town of Sidmouth, nestled between majestic sandstone cliffs, which form part of the Jurassic coastline and the popular Southwest Coast Path. Beach lovers will enjoy spending time on the town’s two pebble beaches, which at low tide, give away to golden sands and rock pools, perfect for those with young children or those that want to while away the hours relaxing in the sunshine and feeling that wonderful sea breeze.

Sidmouth is an ideal location for those wanting to explore the wider area, especially the Jurassic Coastline and the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The hotel is within easy reach of many of the town’s main tourist spots, including the high street with its array of shops, bars and restaurants, and the National Trust owned parkland, The Byes, which follows the River Sid down towards the sea. Both Peak Hill and Salcombe Hill are nearby, as are the popular walking spots Connaught Gardens, the Sid Valley and the South West Coast Path. The town itself is full of wonderful historical character, and the area that the Kingswood and Devorn Hotel now occupies was formally the Sidmouth Brine Baths, which were originally refurbished in 1893, so we are long associated with restoring vigor to weary bodies.
