We are a family run business who took over the Southbank Townhouse end of June 2021, after many years working in the hospitality and the education sector.
We believe that high standards and a good quality product at a reasonable price is the essence to a good night’s stay at our guesthouse. We want your stay at Southbank to be as comfortable as possible with a good night’s sleep and a great breakfast, whether you are spending 10 days or 1 night with us, we guarantee the same full service for all our guests.
The Southbank Townhouse has a unique colonial feel, offering a totally relaxing break and is ideally located on Belgrave Road which is one of the main locations for hotels and guest houses in the central part of Torquay.
We have 12 En-suite rooms, two of which are still under renovation and we hope to have them ready for 2022.
Every room is different and several have personal dressing rooms or lounges as well as spacious bedrooms and modern shower rooms.
We have continued to maintain the adult only style but do allow for children over the age of 12.
We aim to cater for your dietary needs where possible.
We are no smoking through-out the building but do allow smoking on the terrace.
Unfortunately, we do not allow any pets.
We also have a library, dining room and sun terrace for your enjoyment.
We have 8 parking spaces for our present 10 rooms but this does require some double parking.
We offer a full bedding and room clean every three to four days depending on your length of stay.
Fresh milk, fans, iron & ironing board, additional blankets or pillows are available upon request, fridges can also be made available for your medical needs.
On arrival you will find a range of Basic Earth toiletries which are a environmentally friendly, biodegradable toiletry range.
At the Southbank, Breakfast is served: 8am – 9.30am based on a pre agreed time slot and a pre- order menu card.
Our bacon and sausages are locally sourced. Our Cumberland sausages are hand made by the local butcher, and our eggs are supplied by a local egg farmer who guarantees eggs to be delivered within 24h hours of laying.
Our fully licenced bar is opened between 6-8pm Monday-Saturday.
Our Library is a quiet space for work or for exploring some of our amazing books. There are also some board games available and a refreshment tray.
Southbank Townhouse welcomes all guests, regardless of age, gender, race, religion or sexual orientation, including any permanent or temporary disability, medical condition or specific requirement. Like many hotels in Torquay, there are six steps up to the front door of the hotel but once inside we have two king-sized and one single bedroom with en-suite shower rooms, located on the ground floor level. Our guest lounge, terrace, dining room and bar are also located on the ground floor.
