South View Farmhouse is a delightful 4 star silver award winning B & B, superbly comfortable, with friendly hosts and delicious breakfasts, cooked on the Aga from locally sourced ingredients where possible.
Offering en-suite double, single and twin rooms with free WiFi, tea / coffee facilities in a peaceful location within 3 miles of the Cathedral City of Exeter and just 2 miles from the M5, A30 and A38, situated on the edge of the village of Shillingford St George. An ideal base for a restful holiday, for leisure, business, or a romantic break. The farmhouse occupies a sunny position overlooking the large garden and rolling Devon countryside. The farmstead has beef cattle and laying hens provide fresh eggs for breakfast.
There are many places of interest and places to explore with access to some of the most diverse and unspoilt land and seascapes in the South of England. Dartmoor National Park has a timeless beauty and is home to an array of artisan communities, sculptors, potters, painters and wood turners.
The South coastal towns of Exmouth, Dawlish, Teignmouth with Torbay on the English Riviera. If you enjoy visiting grand houses and gardens there are several National Trust properties in the area like the Knighthayes estate has an array of architectural planting and the best example of a Victorian kitchen garden. The Georgian house at Killerton is set within a huge estate of working farmland with amazing shrubs, trees and an extinct volcano. Greenway near Brixham was the holiday home of Agatha Christie's family. Coleton Fishacre near Kingswear in South Devon encapsulates the spirit of the jazz age with elegant Art Deco interiors. Castle Drogo the youngest N.T property built within the twentieth century, and the quirky Al a Ronde full of treasures from around the world with the amazing views of the Exe estuary having many species of birdlife all year. Exeter University gardens on the edge of the city and the magnificent Cathedral dating from the 12th Century, the quayside by the canal are all worthy places to visit with interesting walks and attractions to explore.
Escape from the city and discover the tranquility of the rolling Devon countryside, a perfect oasis to relax and restore. In Spring the hedgerows are filled with wild flowers and pollinators. Find a wonderful selection of restaurants, pubs and bars catering for all tastes and dietary requirements. There are many farmers markets providing superb fresh food and numerous places to enjoy the Devon Cream Tea with homemade scones and cream (with jam on top!)

From M5 motorway splits into A30/A38, keep to A38 signed Plymouth/Torquay. Take next exit left to Kennford/Kenn. After slip road turn immediately left through Kennford village. Stay on this road, follow sign to Clapham. Past Taveners Farm shop on right, at Clapham signs to Shillingford up the hill on sharp right hand bend. Keep on this road for approx. 1 mile, South View on left as you enter the village.
Dartline Coaches run from Shillingford to Exeter Bus Station. Takes 19 minutes from Village Hall. Service daily Monday - Saturday.
