About

A friendly Devon welcome awaits you at this stunning location. Nestled majestically above the beaches of Putsborough and Woolacombe, in North Devon. Within a stone’s throw of Croyde, this is truly the perfect holiday destination for couples, their friends and the extended family, short breaks and adventures. Walking, surfing, cycling or simply exploring a very special part of England, this beautiful area has it all.

Andrew and Jane offer a warm welcome to Pickwell Barton, a working farm in a peaceful and stunning location.

Our charming cottage is set in 600 acres of farmland, just a short stroll across the fields from the beach. The cottage enjoys a secluded rural location yet is conveniently placed for the charming picturesque villages of Croyde, Georgeham, Woolacombe and Braunton, which are all a short distance away and feature some wonderful local pubs, restaurants and shops.

The cottage has its own private garden and southwest facing patio, so you can enjoy those glorious summer evenings. The cottage has a Gas BBQ and garden furniture for you to really take advantage of the beautiful outdoor setting.

The cottage is modernised to a high standard, clean, warm and comprehensively equipped and is suitable for holidays at any time of the year. The cottage is centrally heated and has a wood burner (logs provided) for guest staying in the autumnal and winter months.  Jane’s ‘Pop-up’ games room is a great place to have your own family sporting Olympics.  At Christmas, guests will also get a decorated tree, vegetable hamper and will be welcomed with a bottle of bubbly on arrival. Don’t worry though, if you’re visiting us at other times of the year, you’ll still receive our warm welcome and a hamper full of essentials you may need for a magical stay.

Pickwell Barton Cottage is the old coachman’s cottage and is still next door to the barn his horses would have been tied up in! The cottage has all its original features and is spacious throughout. Three king bedrooms and a shower room with toilet.  Downstairs offers you a light and warm lounge with a wood burner, along with the second bathroom and third toilet, the modernised country kitchen that has everything you need to cater for the whole family and opens to the private enclosed garden and patio, equipped with garden furniture.

The cottage has a range of facilities including complimentary Fibre broadband and Free parking at Putsborough Beach, when staying at Pickwell Barton. We provide linen, luxury towels, tea towels and electricity, plus a TV and DVD player, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and more included. This ideal cottage is located for those on walking holidays or the more adventurous.  We even provide space in the barn to hang wetsuits, boards and store your bikes, other leisure equipment and an outside tap. Maybe you just want to rest and recharge those batteries – well you can do that too!

Woolacombe and Putsborough beaches are a short walk from the cottage through our meadows – such a beautiful walk at any time of year.  If you are visiting during the spring, you can take a stroll down to the beaches among frolicking lambs! These two beaches form an unbroken 3 mile stretch of golden sands and just a little further along the coast is Croyde Bay, which is known for being one of the best surfing beaches in the country.

Pickwell Barton is a great base for anyone wanting to explore more of the area, there are many family friendly attractions and activity centres nearby, as well as National Trust places and beautiful gardens nearby. We are in an area of outstanding natural beauty, so we recommend exploring the stunning countryside in this part of Devon. While you are staying – it’s a must to sample a traditional Devon Cream tea, there are lots of tea rooms in North Devon, we’ll be happy to advise you on directions and interesting places to visit during your stay.
