Mazzard Farm Holiday Cottages

About

6 comfortable holiday cottages, sleeping between 2 and 10 (24 in total), grouped around a pretty, car free courtyard. Situated on beautiful East Hill (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or AONB), and surrounded by 17 acres of its own orchard, gardens, play areas and woods, tranquilly is guaranteed. Great for couples, families and groups.

Seven miles from sleepy Sidmouth, at the foot of East Hill, are 17 acres of old apple farm. Among tipis, hens, farmhouse, gardens, play areas and a big communal courtyard with picnic tables are six cottages – heaven for kids. It’s pampering too, thanks to owner Jacqueline’s treatments: Indian head massages, Japanese facials, reflexology and full body massage.

Quarenden Cottage, the former apple store, is the largest in the row, beautifully cared for inside and out. You get sweeping oak floors and a huge leather sofa, fashionable florals and a wood-burning stove, atmospheric lighting and courtyard views. Bathrooms have fabulous fittings and delicious local soaps, the open-plan kitchen is a cook’s delight and the bedrooms fit under the eaves.

Hugely popular Medlar and Pippin Cottages offer direct access to the lovely courtyard through large glass doors, making them very popular with families with children.

Standard in all cottages are high quality fixtures and fittings, very comfy beds (all linen and towels provided as standard), well equipped kitchens, and all cottages apart from Bramley Cottage feature a log burner. Families with babies and toddlers can borrow all necessary equipment, free of charges.

The owners – keen greenies, foodies too – live in the farmhouse and Jacqueline makes jam, marmalade, lemon curd, apple juice and fruit crumbles in season; there’s also meat from the farm next door. Breakfast hampers available upon request.

Choose from their great list of attractions: the Donkey Sanctuary, Crealy Adventure Park, Stuart Line Cruises and many more, or sign up to an onsite cookery, mountainbiking or photography weekends.
