Lurcombe Farm sits in the heart of the English countryside, within an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Dartmoor landscape undulates and rolling hillsides of green fields encircle an enclave of two beautiful properties, the Mill Cottage and the Granary Barn. Sleeping two, this self-catering accommodation has been renovated and restored with love, with antique furniture, beams, and oodles of character. Set in forty five acres of gorgeous English countryside and on a working farm in a corner of Dartmoor, these two properties are snuggled into the hillside of a secret little valley. The location is ideal for exploring both the moor and the coast and cottage and barn guests have complimentary use of the tennis court, orchards, grounds, fishing lake and stays include a bottle of wine, milk and fresh farm eggs.
The Granary Barn:
Restored and renovated from the old farm granary, the barn is the perfect couples retreat. High ceilings that rise above you combined with exposed beams and large chandeliers. Reclaimed oak mixed with antique furniture, the barn is a spectacular place to stay with sublime views. You’re bound to feel a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of life. Located on the first floor*, the barn is surrounded by rolling hills. The living room style is country chic, with lots of little touches to help you relax. Warm, inviting and romantic, this is heaven in Devon. A king size bed and a walk in shower big enough for two makes this a comfortable cosy stay.
* Please note, the Granary is accessed by wide Dartmoor granite steps, unsuitable for those with access difficulties.
The Mill Cottage:
The Mill Cottage, a cosy romantic getaway with oodles of charm and character. This cosy Dartmoor farm cottage offers guests a homely, warm inviting place to stay. It boasts a gorgeous super-king sized bed and brand new wet room. With rustic features (the small ‘farmers window’ above the bed), beams, antique furniture and views of rolling Devonshire hills, you’ll feel rested in no time.
*Please note, the Mill Cottage is located on the ground floor and is suitable for those with access difficulties.
We are set in the village of Bickington, on the edge of Dartmoor which is only a few minutes’ drive from the A38 Devon Expressway. We have no light pollution and oodles of wildlife and are only 10 minutes from Newton Abbot, Ashburton, 25 minutes from Exeter and 30 minutes from Plymouth. We’re only 3 miles from Haytor and the iconic Tors of Dartmoor with the nearest train station at Newton Abbot and the nearest airport Exeter. We’d recommend bringing a car, so you can make the most of your stay and explore!

“Set in the middle of a working farm, the eggs you’ll have for breakfast are so fresh they’re practically feathered. The Cottage and the Barn are charming in this quiet rural enclave. Air as fresh as those eggs, views are green as the skies are blue, if you get a proper sunset you’ll be bathed in a golden glow. Charming heaven in Devon” Pip McCormac, Lifestyle Director Red Magazine.
