With amazing views across the National Park and within easy distance of some of the region’s most popular attractions and activities, Dartmoor is a wonderful place to base yourself during your holiday in Devon.
Whether you’re looking for a small boutique hotel, a sprawling country manor, a campsite, an opportunity to try out glamping or a cute B&B, you’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to accommodation on Dartmoor.
Looking for luxury with room service, ensuite bathrooms? We have that. Want something more understated with a friendly, warm atmosphere? Plenty of space? Somewhere quiet? Somewhere glamorous? Somewhere you can get back to nature? Whatever it is you need, you’ll find the best accommodation to suit your taste and budget on Dartmoor.
Dartmoor has a number of child friendly hotels, B&Bs and campsites to choose from. The vast number of things to do in the region often brings families and the sheer amount of space makes it an ideal destination for families wanting to introduce their children to the incredible wildlife and scenery that can be found here.
Many families like to take part in that age old British tradition of camping where you can really immerse yourself in the surroundings and get some fresh air. These are ideal for those of you trying to get the kids away from screens or anyone wanting to get back to nature and stay on budget.
There are camping and caravanning sites all over the region all offering a variety of different facilities from communal cooking and cleaning areas, to private bathrooms with running hot water. Alternatively, why not book a farm stay and live like a local for a few days? The kids will love getting involved with work on the farm, particularly in the spring when the new lambs and calves are being born and many of the farms offer feeding and petting sessions as part of the accommodation package.
Dartmoor is well known for its dog friendly accommodation options. Because it is a popular place for dog walkers, there are a whole host of dog friendly hotels, B&Bs and camping sites for you to choose from. Some of the hotels even offer dog pampering sessions and are happy to offer baths and treats after a busy day out exploring the National Park!
You’ll even find horse friendly accommodation here! We know thanks to the population of wild ponies and horses that live on Dartmoor that it is a a place that is much loved by horses and so why not let your horse get out on the open moor and trot around the pretty villages? There are hotels and B&Bs offering stabling for your horses as well as a number of pubs and inns that have B&B accommodation that are happy for your horse to join you on your Dartmoor adventure!
Because of the amount of space and the tranquil nature of the region, Dartmoor is a great place to go on holiday with friends or to use as a base for your escape from every day life. You’ll find that many of the accommodation providers take advantage of the peace and quiet with adult only B&Bs and hotels that are set in the middle of acres of land.
Many of the holiday cottages and self catering options are great for groups, allowing you to bring your friends and get out and about exploring together.
Because Dartmoor has such close ties to the towns and villages in the middle of Devon and stretches down towards places like Plymouth and Totnes, you’ll find a great number of accommodation is focused towards business trips and you’ll find all the facilities you need to continue working away from home including internet access and easy access to the main roads and public transport networks.
