About

Higher Wiscombe is situated at the heart of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and just a short distance from the Jurassic Coast and The South West Coast Path. The cottages nestle in the peaceful Southleigh valley, with Beer, Sidmouth and Branscombe, with their beaches, pubs and restaurants all nearby. The cottages all have stunning rural views. Thatched and Flint both sleep six with The Old Winery sleeping twenty all in Five Star luxury and all bedrooms in all cottages are ensuite. On our website you can find videos of the cottages and independent guest reviews.

The sympathetically converted courtyard of barns combine exposed beams and brickwork with the highest standard of new oak kitchens, bathrooms, furniture, and decoration. The water system is pressurized to ensure luxurious showers. All barns have modern en-suite shower rooms and sumptuous roll top bathrooms for that additional pampering. There are wood burners in all the cottages with ample logs, all from our own woods as well as plenty of squashy sofas to relax into. In summer there is a heated pool that can be booked for private sessions. There is a games room with table tennis and table football and 52 acres of our own stunning countryside for you to wander through.

These 5-Star self-catering holiday cottages, designed with sustainability in mind, have already won both the South West Tourism’s Self Catering Holiday of the Year Award and the National Enjoy England Award for Self Catering Holiday of the Year. To prove that Five Star luxury can be combined with environmental sustainability, Higher Wiscombe has also won no less than eight environmental awards. Newly converted from old stone barns the cottages can accommodate parties from 6 to 32 and are perfect for traditional seaside, bird watching, and walking holidays. The oak dining table in the largest barn can be extended to dine up to 32 guests making Higher Wiscombe the ideal location for all kinds of family reunions, anniversaries and house parties. All three cottages are very dog friendly, and have won the Visit Devon Dog Friendly award at the Devon Tourism Awards in 2015.
