Anchor Cottage
Anchor Cottage is a luxury 4 bedroom self-catering cottage in the South Devon Coastal village of Noss Mayo with direct access to the tidal river Yealm. We are 1 mile from the gorgeous Stoke Beach and walking distance of lots hidden coves for brilliant wild swimming opportunities. We’re a short drive or bike ride to Wembury, Salcombe and Bantham beaches.
Anchor Cottage is part of a 19th century Malthouse which sits directly on Newton Creek. The cottage has been converted into luxury accommodation with an open plan first floor living area so that you can take in the view from the balcony, tune in to your latest episode on Sky, make yourself a coffee in our well-equipped kitchen or tuck into a cream tea around at the dining table.
It has a secure garage and a shared private slipway so that you can easily get your boat, paddle board, kayak or canoe into or out of the river at high tide. It’s also great for storing your bike and the bike rides in the South Hams are simply thrilling.
There are three double bedrooms on the second floor, a master bedroom with a balcony and views of the river and a king size bed, a large room with twin beds and a further double room with a king size bed. You will also find the family bathroom on this floor with a bathtub and shower. The views from the bedrooms and balconies are fabulous at any time of the day or night, whatever the weather or season.
There is a further double bedroom with a king-size bed on the ground floor with access to the toilet and shower room.
On the first floor you will find our well-equipped kitchen, dining area and lounge with balcony overlooking the river. The granite central island in the kitchen is perfect for sipping your gin & tonic whilst waiting for dinner to cook. Our open-plan dining area has a lovely long table that comfortably seats eight. It's great gathering your friends and family for long lazy lunches, celebratory suppers or just for playing board games.
The lounge can comfortably seat 8 people and there is a range of viewing options - as well as standard Freeview including all BBC channels there is Sky (signature only, you'll need to log on to your own account to purchase movies or sports matches), Amazon Prime and Netflix (via your own account).
Finally there is The Nook where you can find the games! It's a study size room with an additional screen for plugging in your XBox or PS4, there is also a good range of board games that vary in terms of length of time to play or difficulty or suitability for kids. We also have the obligatory pack of cards, Uno & various other games that are great for all the family.
We share a private slipway with the other Malthouse cottages so you can get your paddleboards, kayaks, canoes, boats into and out of the water really easily. There’s
Noss Mayo & Newton Ferrers
At low tide you can use the Voss causeway to cross into our sister village Newton Ferrers where you can find the wonderful community run Post Office and stores, they sell fresh bread from Salcombe Bakery as well as their own cupboard staples such as pulses and nuts.
