Pentillie Castle is an award-winning, luxury bed and breakfast and exclusive hire venue in an idyllic and secluded setting with views to Devon’s lush, rolling hills. Pentillie’s superb countryside position sits on the banks of the River Tamar on the Devon/Cornwall border.
The Castle has 9 luxurious en-suite bedrooms, each individually decorated and equipped to exceptionally high standards with a particular emphasis on comfort and good service. The atmosphere is more relaxed than a formal hotel, but the Castle and Estate are rated 5-star for accommodation offering first class hospitality.
After a good night’s sleep, wake up to a delicious Cornish breakfast boasting Pentillie’s own nut free granola or bircher muesli made with fresh apple juice with apples picked from our orchard and then pressed. Followed by a cooked breakfast made from local produce, the perfect start to set you up for the day.
Not only is the house steeped in a rich history but the gardens were designed by the great English landscape designer Humphry Repton so it is a must to explore the 55 acres of beautifully kept woodland gardens, the mysterious Mausoleum and picturesque Bathing Hut.
Whether you stay the night or hire the Castle exclusively with your friends and family for a weekend or longer, Pentillie’s location is a short journey from stunning coastlines, historic moorlands and some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK. If your chasing adventure, visit Dartmoor and Bodmin moor for long walks or moorland riding on horseback. Head to Devon and Cornwall’s beautiful beaches or try Paddle boarding and canoeing along the River Tamar. There are many local cycling trails and such beautiful countryside surrounding us to explore on a bike.
For Delicious, Poldark and Doc Martin fans, Pentillie Castle is ideally located to explore the county’s most famous tv locations. Pentillie recently featured as the stunning Penrose Hotel in Sky One’s drama ‘Delicious’ starring Dawn French, Emilia Fox and Iain Glen, so you will actually be staying on set too!
Summer days at Pentillie bring home made picnics, exploring gardens bursting with colour and fragrance, cooling off with a dip in our outdoor pool. Spending balmy evenings with a refreshing Trevethan gin & tonic on the terrace overlooking the river Tamar and maybe a game of croquet on the lawn.
Winter brings choosing your boots from our welly library before heading out on wild woodland walks or simply sinking into deep sofas relaxing by the roaring log fires and indulging in delicious traditional afternoon tea.
