If you enjoy live music, then make a note of some of the best music events in Devon.
Thanks to its very active music scene, Devon regularly draws some of the most respected performers in the UK.
And of course, the choice of music is as broad as the number of events on offer. From big national festivals to small open-mic nights at local pubs, Devon’s music events celebrate a huge range of genres. And in addition to these, you'll find up-and-coming bands and local musicians performing at smaller festivals and gigs across Devon every weekend.
You'll find well-known names at festivals such as MTV Crashes Plymouth, Beautiful Days, Let’s Rock and GoldCoast Oceanfest, and in concert at the larger venues such as Westpoint.
Many of the music events in Devon are family-friendly, and cater for children really well. Expect to find special areas set aside for family accommodation when it’s an overnighter, as well as entertainment and amusements to keep the younger ones happy. Good festivals for families include Chagstock, Goldcoast Oceanfest, Beautiful Days and the River Cottage Festival.
Of course, we’ve a great tradition here in Devon of folk and ‘country’-style music, as well as both home-grown and visiting artists performing more recent incarnations of these genres. Visit music events such as Sidmouth Folk Week, Teignmouth Folk Festival and you’ll be treated to some of the best in British in this style of music, in idyllic surroundings.
For something really different - and great fun - try Dart Music Festival or Glas-Denbury. Like dance music? Then head to the Lockdown Festival, a three day event at Powderham Castle. The entertainment on offer at the Ukele Festival in Babbacombe speaks for itself, and the Two Moors Festival is an annual celebration of classical music set in wonderful locations across Exmoor and Dartmoor.
