National Accessible Scheme
Information on Key Benefits and Reduced Participation Fees
The National Accessible Scheme (NAS) - run by VisitBritain - is a nationally recognised rating to ensure that accommodation meets the needs of people with physical and sensory needs.The scheme provides a set of Accessible Standards, against which accommodation providers are independently assessed and awarded a rating. The ratings are split into 3 categories for: Mobility impaired and disabled people, Visually impaired and blind people, Hearing impaired and deaf people.

Quality assessment for accommodation providers

There are two national accreditaion schemes availabe -VisitEngland and the AA. There are also various local inspection schemes available in Devon ensuring 'legal, safe and clean' businesses.

The VisitEngland scheme inspections are carried out by Quality in Tourism.Categories include:

Hotel Accommodation
Budget Hotel
Guest Accommodation
Self-Catering Accommodation
Holiday, Touring & Camping Park
University/Campus
Spa

Further awards include the Gold and Silver awards for high acheivement and the Welcome Schemes including 'Walkers Welcome', 'Cyclists Welcome', 'Welcome Pets!' and 'Families Welcome'
