Start Point

Distance: 5 miles
Difficulty: Moderate
Start/End point: East Prawle (Grid Ref: SX782365).

Prawle Point is Devon's most southerly reach. The scenery is outstanding. From Woodcombe Sand, this remote and unspoilt section of the coast path follows raised beaches under weathered crags of schist, before climbing on the high cliffs.

This is a great place to watch birds, including gannets, gulls, kestrels, buzzards and ravens. In spring and autumn, many migrating birds gather here.

Quiet inland footpaths link the coast path with the pretty village of East Prawle.
Theme: Coast,
Special Interest: Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Birdwatching, Nature, Wildlife,
Area: South Devon - South Hams.

Relevant maps/guides: O.S. Explorer 20, Landranger 202.
Facilities along route: Pubs and cafes (seasonal) at East Prawle.
Suitable for anyone fairly fit, this walk should take the average walker roughly 3 hours. Please keep dogs on leads. The route consists of well-beaten coast path, rugged in parts. Signed footpaths and tracks. One sharp ascent and descent. The name of this walk comes from the Pig's Nose Inn which is situated along the route at Gammon Head.
