Visit the medieval home of the earls of Devon. One of the country's most romantic ruins sits in a stunning setting on the foothills of Dartmoor.

Explore the Norman motte with its gravity defying keep remains. Visit the chapel, the priest's lodgings, gatehouse and the 14th century hall, you may catch a glimpse of Lady Howard's ghost!

Let our free audio tour bring the castle to life as you explore the former home of one of Devon's most powerful families. Once the largest castle in Devon, Okehampton is mentioned in the Domesday book.

You can also enjoy superb woodland walks and a pretty riverside picnic area.

Free Parking; Dogs allowed on leads; Toilets and baby changing; Audio tour including basic language version and a version for visually impaired visitors.

Access limited for those with restricted mobility. Access to castle and grounds: Steps from tickets office; alternative entrance beside castle gate.

Surface within the castle is grass and gravel. Access to bailey and to motte is via steep slopes and steps, but there is alternative access to bailey across fairly even grass and a slope. Benches.
