(Photo: Devon Wildlife Trust) Surrounding Holswothy are a wealth of important habitats that are havens for wildlife. You will pass open wetlands where wildfowl and wading birds can be seen, broadleaved woodland and some Culm grassland. This grassland is a national priority habitat, where you may see rare butterflies and birds, and maybe a deer. Some of the hedges along the route are species rich. The trail passes through an attractive green lane and several areas of woodland, with a rich ground flora.
