DAN logo

Devon Artist Network (DAN) is an organisation that promotes, champions and supports the work of Devon based artists and makers. It was formed in 2004 and is a voluntary group led by a Board of Directors. Its flagship annual event is Devon Open Studios, the county's largest open studio event. This is held in September, and in 2011 will take place between 3 and 18 September. Devon artists (they do not have to be members of DAN) open their work place or organise exhibitions in local easily accessed venues to allow the public to see how they create. The event has a dedicated following of local Devon people and also attracts visitors to the area who return year after year, timing their holiday in Devon to be there for Open Studios. Although a county-wide event, Dartmoor features strongly in the brochure which lists all the venues both because such a beautiful area is attractive as a living and working place for creative people and because touring Dartmoor studios is a great way to see parts of the area visitors might not otherwise discover.
