Dartmouth Steam Railway and River Boat Company operate a range of services crossing the stunning south Devon countryside and coastline providing the ultimate opportunity to explore this vast area of outstanding natural beauty.
The historic steam railway runs between Paignton and Kingswear passing along the spectacular Geopark coastline and through the glorious, wooded slopes along the Dart estuary and is regarded by many to be the most scenic steam railway line in the country.
The company also operates an inter-connecting network of boats and buses linking areas from Teignmouth all the way down to Salcombe and Kingsbridge. These boat trips covering two of the country’s most scenic estuaries and some of its most beautiful coastline, providing fabulous views and also great opportunities to see the varied wildlife on offer, from rare birds to dolphins, whales, porpoises and seals, the varieties are endless.
In 2010 the Sunday Times described the ‘Round Robin’ as the best day out in the UK. The ‘Round Robin is a combination of services that include the steam train from Paignton to Kingswear, the ferry across from Kingswear to Dartmouth, the river boat from Dartmouth to Totnes and then an open top bus ride back to your startpoint.
In addition to all of these regular services there are special events and activities across the season from murder mystery dining trains, to a sea shanty festival to a series of special trains and boat services in celebration and support of the world famous Dartmouth regatta.
Due to the flexibility and variety of journeys many opportunities are created to explore the historic towns covered by the services enabling you to sample the fine foods and drinks that are available from some of the regions finest restaurants and bars.
