Dart Estuary

Add Dart Estuary to your Itinerary

Bayard's cove

The Dart Estuary, lying within the South Hams, is one of the country's prime destinations for 'Green Tourism'. The Dart Estuary aims to give visitors the best experience they can have but at the same time avoid putting more pressure on the environment.

The river itself presents many opportunities. You have the opportunity to cruise up the river in luxury or be a bit more adventurous and take to a kayak or canoe. For the land lovers there is a cycle route and footpath that gives you the chance to experience the stunning landscape and look out for birds while getting some gentle exercise at the same time!

Within the river, and around the river, are areas of production of high quality local food products such as shellfish, migratory fish, wines, cheeses, etc., all of which give Dartmouth it’s local identity and reputation for excellence in both produce and natural assets to enjoy all year round.

A really good location for kayaking. Good out of season spot because needs rain for decent water levels so spring and autumn best.
