Events in the Dartmoor area
Dartmoor is the contrasting landscapes of green fields hemmed with hedgerows and dry stone walls, river gorges and wooded valleys, welcoming villages and wild open moor grazed by Dartmoor ponies and Blackface sheep. Its summits are crowned with fantastic wind hewn tors of granite and offer superb views.
Events in the English Riviera area
The English Riviera encompasses the towns of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham, which stretch around Torbay on the South coast of Devon. Torquay and Paignton have stretches of sandy beach as well as quality shopping and attractions. Brixham is a traditional fishing town with restaurant serving straight from the catch.
Events in the Exeter area
The Roman city of Exeter is steeped in history yet has a cosmopolitan atmosphere with its high-class entertainment, shopping and dining options.
East Devon boasts a stretch of the Jurassic Coast where a mixture of sandy beaches, rocky coves, cliff-top walks and elegant seaside towns such as Exmouth, Sidmouth, Budleigh Salterton and Seaton provide plenty to keep you occupied. Inland are beautiful rural areas of East Devon with traditional market towns including Honiton and Ottery St Mary.
Mid Devon is a largely rural area dotted with charming villages and towns including Tiverton and Crediton.
Events in the Exmoor area
From Combe Martin in the West to the twin towns of Lynton & Lynmouth, up to Foreland Point and on into Somerset, Exmoor follows the North Devon coast around craggy points and coves and stunning sheer cliffs including the breathtaking Valley of the Rocks. Inland, the moor offers more stunning landscapes and wilderness including chances to see wild red deer and Exmoor ponies.
Events in the North Devon area
North Devon is a large and varied area stretching from the remote and unspoilt Hartland Peninsular in the West to the surfing hotspots of Croyde Bay and Woolacombe to the stunning valleys and intricate bays and coves of the North coastline, with friendly towns such as Bideford and Ilfracombe along the way. Inland, North Devon offers a vast rural area with winding rivers and picturesque villages.
Events in the Plymouth area
Plymouth has just the right mix of city shopping, entertainment and top attractions and events as well as spectacular sea views of Plymouth Sound –the vast bay facing the English Channel and an outlet for the rivers Tamar and Plym.
Events in the South Devon area
South Devon boasts the South Hams, an area of rolling hills and winding lanes leading through chocolate box villages such as Modbury and Slapton to vast stretches of sandy beaches. Towns to visit include Totnes, Dartmouth and Salcombe. Further East is the Teignbridge area encompassing Dawlish Warren nature reserve and charming towns such as Dawlish, Teignmouth and Shaldon.
Events in the Tamar Valley area
The Tamar Valley is an area with World Heritage status for its mining landscape. The estuary is a haven for wildlife and the valley of the river Tamar is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Tamar Valley straddles the Devon-Cornwall border.
