Delicatessens in Devon
Come to Devon and the deli-lover will find themselves in absolute heaven -- indeed the county appears to have more than its fair share of sensational foodie stores packed to the rafters with the pick of local goodies and specialities from abroad.
Check out any of the major centres, and you will find delicatessens to tempt and enjoy. Tavistock is home to NH Creber, a long-established deli where the range of cheese is to die for, let alone the 150 whiskies and all the other delights.
Dartmouth boasts the wonderful Smith Street Deli, packed out with local products, particularly from the South Devon Chilli Farm - and you can indulge yourself on chocolates and other treats besides.
Totnes reckons Effings is up there with the best, filled as it is with luxuries from all over, in fine contrast to Think England, in Torquay, where almost all the quality food and wines are English made.
Smaller towns can equally lay claim to having their own first-rate deli, as the Cornucopia in Hatherleigh and Chagford's Black's Delicatessen quite delectably prove.
