The Downs

The Downs Hotel & licensed restaurant, run by resident owners Ed & Kate Wood and situated on the seafront at Babbacombe, boasts seating for 40 and a sea view ‘snug’ with sofas and easy chairs in which you can enjoy a morning newspaper or after dinner coffee and liqueurs.

During the summer months the restaurant and forecourt is used to serve light lunches where all your favourites, local fish, produce and specials are served daily, not to mention Traditional Devonshire Cream Teas with our home-made scones and local clotted cream and real Devon clotted cream ice-cream.

Dinner is served to residents, and non-residents by arrangement, in the evening with home-made dishes and ingredients sourced locally wherever possible.

The Downs also has a spacious, fully stocked bar serving draught and locally brewed beers and a good selection of wines including Kate’s favourite English wine, Father John’s, from her local vineyard at Bishopsteignton. Pre and post drinks can be enjoyed here.

The Downs can cater for intimate candle lit dinners to group bookings and private dining.
